Entrepreneurial Series

Preparing for life after elite sport is tough; many former athletes find it hard to adjust to conventional working life after the all-consuming nature of their sport. They may also lack the relevant experience or qualifications to progress into their desired careers.

Yet athletes are often passionate about reinventing themselves and they bring special skills and knowledge to entrepreneurship with natural ability in leadership, commitment and resilience. They are results orientated and team players; they execute strategy and conquer diversity. They have a high performing work ethic and perform under pressure; and are coachable, ambitious, inspirational and culturally sensitive.

Sport & Entrepreneurship

With support and guidance these traits can be harnessed to create successful entrepreneurs, or intrapreneurs within larger organisations.

A balanced athlete is a better performing one and it’s important for success on and off the field to ensure players have studies under their belt and that there’s constantly something that they are doing to develop their employability and prospects for when they transition into the competitive business world.

This relationship between entrepreneurship and sport is a strong one and we’re delighted to partner with The Rugby Players Association to bring a series of interactive workshops and e-learning courses specifically for sports people who want to explore their future work options and to understand and develop a more entrepreneurial set of skills to help then succeed as an entrepreneur or as an intrapreneur within a larger organisation.
